In 2023, final energy consumption in Uruguay increased by 10 %, due to a 25 % increase in demand from the industrial sector, the country’s largest energy consumer. In addition, installed electricity generation capacity increased by 7%. These and other relevant data are part of the new National Energy Balance 2023. This report covers some of the key events and highlights from the latest BEN, which was presented last month by the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mines.
