In a recent presentation, the Honduran Secretaría de Energía, Recursos Naturales, Ambiente y Minas, through its Dirección de Energía Renovable y Eficiencia Energética, in collaboration with the World Bank and SEG Ingeniería, presented the results of energy efficiency audits carried out in 15 buildings of state institutions.
The audits revealed significant opportunities to improve efficiency. By implementing energy efficiency measures, 23% of energy consumption can be saved, with an average payback period of around one year. It was also highlighted that the installation of solar photovoltaic systems could cover 43% of the energy needs of each of these buildings.
During the event, the “Ley de Uso Racional y Eficiente de la Energía” (Law on the Rational and Efficient Use of Energy) was also presented, which aims to promote better energy efficiency in all sectors in Honduras.
At SEG Ingeniería, we continue to work on the development of energy efficiency and sustainability in Latin America and the Caribbean. We highlight the joint work of all project stakeholders and Honduras’ commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency, paving the way to a more sustainable future.
