We are pleased to announce another milestone in our commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency. We have been selected to implement a key project under Barbados’ Sustainable Energy Investment Programme (Smart Fund II), supported by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the European Union (EU). As part of an initial sample, 100 buildings will be selected to be assessed.
Background to the project:
Barbados is seeking to drastically reduce its 90% dependence on fossil fuels for electricity generation. Our project is in line with the national energy policy until 2030, which aims to intensify the use of energy efficiency (EE) and renewable energy (RE).
Goals:
- Reduction of electricity consumption: implementation of RE and EE innovations.
- Reducing emissions: Combat climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
- Institutional strengthening: Improving local capacity to manage and scale up RE and EE initiatives.
Our responsibilities:
- Carrying out energy audits.
- Design of solutions in EE and ER.
- Proposal for photovoltaic systems and feasibility assessment.
- Prioritization and selection of buildings for the implementation of measures.
Expected impact:
Our goal is to transform Barbados’ energy system and promote a more sustainable and economically competitive future. This project not only protects the environment, but also promotes innovation and reduces energy costs.
