The primary matrix of Uruguay was 57% renewable during 2021, a record slightly lower than that observed in 2020 but higher than the average 53% of the immediately previous decade. This matrix, also called supply, covers all energy sources, from electricity to fossil fuels. This and other relevant data on the country’s situation can be seen in the 2021 National Energy Balance (BEN), prepared by the Planning, Statistics and Balance section of the National Energy Directorate of the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mining.
